Welcome to the future of technology. This article will list only the best ios apps for 2021, not some crap you can find in App Store now. There are many app categories, and I will try to list most of them:
What kind of apps do we use every day? Social media, sports tracking (Wahoo Fitness/MapMyRun), navigation, notes and todo apps, shopping (amazon/Walmart), banking or finance (Mint), entertainment (Netflix), business organization, etc. Almost all of them have analogs in the best iOS apps 2021 list.
Here are the best ios apps 2021 list:
Facebook Messenger:
To be honest, I can’t imagine my life without Messenger. It is always open on my phone. I use it to chat with friends on daily basis, check updates from Facebook and Instagram profiles of people I follow. Not only that, but you can play games with your friends (minesweeper, etc.) on messenger, also many bots will answer all of your questions about weather or news. There is even a realtor bot for buying/selling property (house/apartment) directly inside the messenger app!
This future version of FB Messenger will have:
* Ability to send money to any user you want
* Integration with other apps like Amazon or Uber: as soon as you book a cab using this integration, you will receive a notification in messenger about it
* Ability to make group video calls: small groups up to 5 people, big groups up to 10. Maybe even more
* Businesses inside the app that you can buy stuff from (Amazon or Walmart) and chat with customer service reps using their dedicated bots for each company inside FB Messenger
Uber/Lyft – Transportation apps:
Both Uber and Lyft are very popular now. They are convenient and easy ways to get around the city. The only problem is there is no good alternative here. So what I want is an updated version of these apps that will allow me to book not only cabs but also airport taxis, trains, buses, etc directly within one app without leaving it. I think this will be great for traveling people (businessmen, students, etc.) who are not from the USA and don’t know how to move around the country.
Weather apps – Weather Underground, AccuWeather & more:
All three of these apps give you similar forecast information for today or tomorrow. So why would I want them in my best iOS app 2021 list? The main reason is convenience. In this future version of weather apps, you can just swipe right on your phone screen and see a simplified layout with only a couple of buttons like the “NEXT” button which opens a few hours/days forward forecast inside that same app, also there will be an option to add multiple locations so you could switch between places immediately without leaving the app.
Notes+:
Notes app (Apple default one) will have a great upgrade in this future version. You can do everything inside notes now – text formatting, stickers, gifs, photos, etc. Also, it will integrate with Maps app and other apps to make locating yourself faster on paper when you note down the address of an important place – for example if you visit your friend’s house in 2021 and take an ugly screenshot from google maps to note down the address of their house, then googling things like pokemon nearby or any other location near “your location” is a very nice thing to do whenever you have some free time at home 🙂
Evernote:
It’s hard to say what Evernote developers would add to our lives in 2021, but they will definitely improve the design because the Evernote app in 2021 should be a lot more simple to use. The whole idea is that people don’t really care about the search for notes inside the app and things like that – they want to just open it write something and save the note without thinking of where exactly you can find it (search function) later on.
Calendar apps:
I’m using the calendar from Apple because I think it has the best UI design with big updated fonts + easy swipe navigation from one screen to another. Maybe there would be some new material design calendars here like Google’s or Microsoft’s? In any case, all of them must sync with iCloud which means you can access your calendar from anywhere around the world no matter what device you are using.
Camera+:
This app is great, I can’t tell how many times it helped me when I was somewhere and didn’t have my DSLR at hand. The only problem that makes me consider this app as one of the best iOS apps 2021 is its design which could be better with new filters and a more simple interface overall. Maybe in the future version, they will update everything inside it so we could swipe from left side to right, like Instagram stories (see image below).
Snapchat:
This is a very complicated social network that has 3 main problems: 1) not enough security measures or privacy options 2) confusing UI – difficult to understand how do people post stuff/how do they view your Snapchat and 3) no app from this app makes more sense. Of course, developers are trying to solve all of these issues but it’s not enough. So what I want is a completely different version of Snapchat that will be much better – similar to how Facebook was before 2008 (see image below).
Twitter:
It has the same problems as Snapchat or even worse at times because again, privacy options are almost non-existent, and too many people in my school use Twitter so sometimes it feels like I’m just seeing only memes on this social network all day long. But here is something that can help me with problem 2 above: “Twitter Timeline Next” which opens an interface for showing tweets going forward instead of backward (see image below). Also, the app could use a better user interface because now it’s too childish and simple.
iMessage:
it needs to have more of android’s features when it comes to material design colors + easier way to switch between apps that are related to messaging apps. For example, when you want to start a group chat in iMessage, you can’t simply go directly from your text conversation into a group chat without opening the iMessage app first. You must open the whole iMessage app every time just for this small task which is too hard for many people nowadays (see image below). So there should be an easy way to reach other parts of your “messages” apps rather than using notifications for everything.
Apple Music:
it should have material design colors + friendlier to use interface and again everything that I mentioned in the health app regarding UI changes. For example – you can’t change your profile picture or username, challenging friends is a nightmare, etc (see image below). If you don’t believe me check out few other apps like Spotify, Deezer, google play music, amazon music unlimited, etc to understand what we want from our future apps. Also, read the “Music will never be the same” article because it’s one of the most professional articles about this topic right now on the internet.

Apple mail:
it should have material design colors + better user experience/interface as well as a new version of “mail” from iOS 2021 and webOS 3.0 (see image below). It is also true for most other small apps which can be easily redesigned and turned into something great in the next 6 years when you look at what currently exists on our smartphones.
Siri:
everything should be better. It shouldn’t take more than one second to get a reply. The voice should be better as well as the answers. It’s 2016 and I’m seriously wondering how is it possible that we still don’t have the ability to call people by putting their names in a sentence instead of that unoptimized way of doing this – for example “call Jonas halldorsson” or “call +46703148239”. My solution from 2015 still works, but it’s something like the 4 taps process which you can see on my video at the top of this article (or even worse if you are using iOS 9+). I mean what happened with all those rumors about using names in your sentences? There are many ways how to improve this thing. You can either make Siri smarter and use some sort of context-aware technology or just add “call so and so” as a first word after you launch the app (see image below). I’m not saying that it should work like “hey Siri call +46703148239” because nobody needs that but instead as a middle step between those 2 examples (see video below).
Game Center:
all games should have the ability to compare progress with others or their friends in the same game through the Game Center app. One of the biggest issues with Game Center is that you can’t see, who else is playing your game and what they have achieved in comparison to your progress. We also desperately need the ability to add/remove friends from our devices (see image below). You should be able to do that through the Game Center app as well. For example,, when I want to play a new game, I like to choose few people which are my best friends or family members first so we can compare scores later using this app.
